This weekend I thought to google my name and the first display was a link of a comment I made about how I prepare organ meats. I thought this was pretty funny. We do eat organ meats, I do cook them. But what a random thing to do at the top of the google search. The search wasn't that long by any means I try to keep under the radar about things most of the time. Also this weekend I prepared some chicken livers to add to my spaghetti sauce which I make 2 gallons at a time! That's a lot of sauce and lasts us almost a whole year not too bad for the time put in it. It was my mother's recipe which I enhanced by adding some wine and liver two of my favorite things! Not really the liver, but it is SO good for you it should be. I never grew up eating it, but I am going to make sure my kids do so they will like it. My husband loves it and his mother fixed it for him. It is one of the cheapest, most nutrient dense food items.
This weekend we also made some Cortido and Kimichi, both from Nourishing Traditions. Red Beans were on the list too, but I learned some lessons about legumes that pushed that back till tomorrow. I am not quite sure what the lesson is at the moment entirely, but my kidney beans which I soaked in warm water with whey had black spots on some of them which caused us to have to pick over one by one and lost a fair amount of beans which I made into chili today for the freezer. Need to go put that away before Winne the Pooh is over...
